About Us

Cycling is a tremendously diverse sport, it is something that can be done completely on your own, or as part of a group of any size. Club riding offers a great and varied experience for all, but the thought of joining a club may be a little agonising, especially if it is your first.

In the beginning, we all ask the same questions and think the same thoughts ; Will they be too fast for me? ; Will they go too far for me? ; Will I be able to keep up? ;Will they be friendly?

To help new members decide if the Worthy Wheelers club is for them, our ride program is as follows :-

Monday evening : 21 miles –

If you are new to riding, club riding, or returning to fitness then Monday is for you. We meet at 6.15 pm at the Worthies club car park.

The ride is an introduction to our club. The route is rolling hills but not too challenging. As we are a ‘no drop’ club you will have someone with you for the entire ride.

If you breeze through our Monday then perhaps you are ready for:-

Wednesday evening : 31 miles –
7.10 pm – Worthies club car park

If you’ve ridden a few Mondays and found it easy and want to progress or have ridden with a club before or are looking to improve then join our main club ride on a Wednesday.

With a little more undulation on the route, the Wednesday ride is usually more of a tempo ride. There are options to cut short at 20 miles (30K) and again a little later and we keep to our ‘no drop’ policy all the way until the end.

New for 2022

Join us on the 3rd Sunday* of every month for a social group ride. We ride out of Kings Worthy at a social pace, keeping everyone in the group. We follow a relatively flat route out to Stockbridge, where we stop for coffee, cake and chat. We then complete the circular route back to Kings Worthy, having covered a little over 30 miles.  If you are comfortable riding 30 miles, at any pace, then please come along, we think that you will enjoy it.

*Subject to calendar clashes – Please check our ride calendar, just to be sure

Gravel / Off road

In 2021 we started a small group of Gravel riders. So far we haven’t arranged any regular weekly on/off road rides but there are some being offered on semi regular basis and interest is growing.

Please contact us if you would like to join in and we can add you into a communication group

If you’ve enjoyed a Wednesday or two and like the group and the pace, then join us for our :-

Sunday Morning :
8.00 am – Worthies club car park.

Sunday rides offer the opportunity to extend your riding distance. As a rule, during the winter months, we will maintain 40 to 50 miles a weekend.

As the warmer weather arrives the distances will increase and we are able to offer planned and lead rides up to and exceeding 100 miles!

We also use Sundays to plan other group ride activities specifically aimed at training for upcoming events or improving riding skills. In some cases there will be more than one ride at the weekend to allow for different training plans. Members have access to our club Strava group and WhatsApp chat group for up to the minute information on rides.
We still maintain our ‘no drop’ policy and most of the longer rides feature a coffee stop en route.

Our current meeting point is the car park at the  Worthies sports and social club, Loader Close, Kings Worthy.

We meet at 6.15 pm Monday, 6.15pm Wednesday and  8 am Sunday

We are a friendly club and welcome new members – Please contact us and arrange to join us for a ride soon
